2012 REPORT:Phoebe has always had a special fondness for Pasadena W, aka Delilah, so it was no great stretch that she jumped at the opportunity to purchase one of this great mare's offspring!! Delilah was an extremely successful athlete and open jumper, in her prime, with impressive show records from Germany. She passes onto her foals an unsurpassed sense of inner self quietness and confidence. When Phoebe first met Sampson as a foal she fell in love with his expression and easy-going-old-soul-mentality. Not to mention that he is a ground covering, yet, springy athlete with strong bone structure. But, the way Sampson uses his well-set neck while in motion is just very unusual and impressive for his young age. Sampson has a wide range of marketability to buyers -- he will no doubt excel in any discipline that is asked of him -- dressage, hunters, jumpers, and even eventing!! He shows discipline versatility and is appropriate for the professional, amateur and young rider. Sampson is currently our resident "foal-sitter" and whether he is sold as a youngster or as an undersaddle horse, everyone at Thornridge has fallen in love with this special yearling!!!!
UNDERSADDLE as a 3YO in 2014: Sampson was broken during the winter of 2014 and has been our easiest youngster, to date! He is exactly what we anticipated: uncomplicated, fun and comfortable. In May, he measured a solid 15.3H and has a lot of growing to do still. We anticipate him to reach appx 16.1H at final maturity. In May, we free jumped Sampson and found him to be willing, careful, adjustable and a quality jumper. Free jumping video is available below to view. At the end of June ,Sampson attended his first show and was the perfect gentleman all day long. He was the highest scoring Intro Level ride all day with a 74+% in Intro B!! A video of this ride is available on our you tube channel Thornridge Manor. We plan to continue Sampson's dressage oriented foundation, play with ground poles and trail ride until he meets his next partner. A video of him schooling at home, on July 6, is available below to view. It is hard to believe that Sampson is only 3yo as he is so mentally mature!!
