Clifford FV (Contucci x Grandbrooke's Hope)

2006 Mahogany Bay Gelding, registration Oldenburg pending, Contucci (Caprimond - Lungau - Akzent II) out of Grandbrooke's Hope (Grand Lowe - Grande)

Clifford FV has undeniably the friendliest nature of any horse we have ever met. His sincere love for people makes him a very special horse. Clifford is an amateur friendly prospect with 3 above average, correct gaits and a confident demeanor. Clifford has long legs and we expect him to be a large horse -- easily over 17H. This gentle giant has the temperament of a champion and quickly becomes the favorite of everyone he meets. Like all of our youngsters, Clifford is handled regularly -- even as a yearling he clips, crossties, and blows kisses in our ears!!!!

Clifford FV's sire, Contucci, is well recognized as "America's Leading Dressage Sire." Some of Contucci's highlights include:

  • USEF 2005 Leading Dressage Sire
  • USDF Leading producer of Young Horses 2001-2005
  • USEF 2005 Leading Producer of Mature Horses
  • Dressage Champion of his own Stallion Performance Test
  • Sire of 2006 4 yr-old National Young Dressage Champion
  • Producer of numerous Dressage at Devon Champion titles
  • Winning exported offspring in Europe

Clifford's dam, Grandbrooke's Hope, has placed in numerous dressage and A rated hunter shows, including the Middleburg Classic in 1998. Her sire is T. Brooke, leading sire of hunters and jumpers and out of Brooke's Gambol, dam of the well known Wallstreet Week, Best Young Horse at Devon and winner of multiple top hunter shows.

Clifford's only full brother, Cadence (2003) scored 8.4 at his inspection and won Reserve Champion. Both Clifford and Cadence inherited their sire's shoulder angle for fantastic reach and ground covering movement.

September 14, 2007 UPDATE: On September 14, Clifford FV attended his Oldenburg Inspection to receive his official papers and to get branded. Not surprisingly, he was exceptionally well behaved. The judge announced that "his obvious good character would contribute to his future rideability and trainability." His kind nature is just remarkable!!

Summer 2009 UPDATE: Clifford was broken to ride in the late spring of 2009 and is progressing remarkably well balanced considering he is already 17.3H!!!! We have had several inquiries about his sale, but when push comes to shove, we are just not able to see Clifford go. He is our gentle giant and a farm fixture at this point. If we were to sell him, we would break the heart of our favorite groom he is now fully leased long term by both that groom, Caitlyn Fitzgerald and by MDA YR Vice President, Erica DeGeele. There are not too many huge 3 yo that are so willing and able to teach a dead beginner and an advancing young rider. Cliff is just a special horse and we are thrilled to be having him in our life indefinitely....Congratulations Caitlyn and Erica and thank you for showering our Clifford with all the love and attention he deserves.
